With an increasing number of aftermarket or replica wheels being used on Fulvias and Flavias, there is more confusion over the correct wheel fasteners to use, and it is important to match the wheel itself to the nut or bolt being used to mount the wheels.
Original steel wheels and Cromodora wheels used fasteners with a curved seat.
However, many (but not all) reproduction wheels and some original Campagnolos used fasteners with a straight tapered seat.
It is important to match the wheel and fastener to ensure the loads are spread over a wider area rather than point loads that a mismatch would give.
Early cars used wheel studs with nuts, later cars switched to wheel bolts, although some people have opted to convert later cars to a stud and nut fitment.
- Suits following cars with aftermarket wheels requiring straight tapered bolts.
